Amy Rock

Premier Level Choreographer

Indianapolis, IN

Amy grew up in a small town where sports revolved only around football and basketball, and where no one knew competitive cheerleading existed!  Learning about this incredible sport in high school, she pushed her tiny, little team of five athletes to compete and win at a high school cheerleading competition at a local fair in 2001.  Since then, has been engulfed in the cheerleading industry for over 20 years, participating in numerous aspects of the sport; competing as a college and allstar athlete; coaching high school, college, and allstar cheer; as well as an allstar program director, gym owner, award winning choreographer, and skills instructor. Since 2001 when she began her own competitive cheer career during her freshmen year of college, Amy has grown with it in her abilities, skills, knowledge, friendships, collaborations, and her appreciation for what this sport can bring to her and how it can change a person’s life as it has molded her entire life, family, and career.

Amy been very blessed to have operated and owned successful competitive allstar cheer programs around the country. From the Midwest to the Deep South to the Pacific Northwest, giving her a broad range of experience and humility but also an appreciation. As a coach she has won multiple state and national titles across the country, including PacWest, Spiritcheer, Super Nationals, etc., having won numerous specialty awards for these routines, including Innovative and Best  Choreography Awards across the country.  She has choreographed and competed teams at the Summit and D2 Summit since it’s inaugural year in 2013. Amy works with every age and ability level, from the tiny beginner to the collegiately trained athlete, but mostly enjoys watching as the lower levels of competitive cheer are celebrated and achieve new and fun ways to display their skills through their choreography in their competitive routine.  She am currently Credentialed and Greenlighted through the USASF and SafeSport Certified.

Her philosophy on choreography is this: Choreography is more than just a presentation of skills.  It tells the observer a story about you, your team, your program and your athletes.  You want the story to be fun, exciting, enjoyable and most importantly memorable.  It is a performance to be admired and a comparison to others to be considered.  It is with smooth transitions, “picture moments” throughout, and a firm grasp on the scoresheet and how to play the “gray areas” in building and grasp the strengths of any team quickly that I can create a production for a team that makes them feel appreciated and excited to display their skills, no matter the level.  Something as simple as changing a formation or the direction of a skill being performed can drastically influence a team’s projection and alter a score. She uses the scoresheet as a tool to put together clean, straightforward concepts in a routine with the potential to score well combined with memorable moments that will also drive a team’s potential for success on any stage.  Using the floor in new and innovative ways, making skills flow seamlessly together from one section to another, pushing the boundaries of level appropriate building, and creating a sense of ownership for athletes throughout the routine is her strength.  Her hope is that every athlete feels like they own a little piece of every routine she creates.
